Just outside Chicago, in southwest suburban Oak Lawn, Joan Orth was struck by a vehicle while crossing Kenton Avenue around 5:45 PM Monday evening. The vehicle, driven by a male, was heading westbound on Kenton. Orth was pronounced dead at 6:31 PM at Advocate Christ Medical Center, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. Oak Lawn police Lt. Joe Stubbs said that alcohol is not believed to have played a role in the accident. The traffic police unit is still investigating the incident.
