Fight Broke Out in SoCal Prison

Four inmates were hospitalized with serious injuries after a fight in a Southern California prison broke out Sunday morning. About 10 to 15 men were involved in the brawl. The most seriously injured were transferred to hospitals, some with puncture and stab wounds, while others were treated at the prison for cuts and bruising. It is not known why the fight was caused.

Man Shooting at Elementary School Faces $10 Million Bail

Construction accident causes death of one

Authorities say that last Tuesday morning, an embankment caved in on a then unidentified man at a work site in Dakota Dunes, just south of Sioux Falls.  It has since been learned the man was 27 year old Gabe Koenigsfeld of Sioux Falls, who was a high school sports star, and a former South Dakota State football player.  His wife, Stephanie is pregnant with their first child.

Accident with sewer equipment causes death of Skokie resident

According to the medical examiner’s office in Skokie, Illinois, Joseph Patyk was involved in an accident where his clothing became twisted around his neck when working with a machine on the 750 block of North Merrill Street in Park Ridge.  Patyk  was in the hospital for several days, and was pronounced dead at 1:45 pm on Tuesday at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.  The actual date and time...

Joice, Iowa farmer dies

A 79-year old man was repairing a drainage tile Saturday afternoon when the trench he had dug collapsed, burying him under the dirt.  Emergency crews were called around 8:40 pm when the man’s wife could not reach him, and had her neighbor call 911.  When emergency crews arrived, they found the back hoe still running, and the 7 feet deep trench had collapsed.  The man’s name has not been released, pending...

Man trapped and killed by bulldozer

According to Ossian, Iowa authorities, Patrick O’Shaughnessy was working on a bulldozer when it apparently slipped off the jacks and pinned him.  Although his co-workers used a crane to lift the bulldozer, O’Shaughnessy was pronounced dead at the scene.  O’Shaughnessy had been working on a small bulldozer at Reilly construction in northeast Iowa.
