Pedestrian killed by vehicle

Just outside  Chicago, in southwest suburban Oak Lawn, Joan Orth was struck by a vehicle while crossing Kenton Avenue around 5:45  PM Monday evening.  The vehicle, driven by a male, was heading westbound on Kenton.  Orth was pronounced dead at 6:31 PM at Advocate Christ Medical Center, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.  Oak Lawn police Lt. Three men dead in single vehicle accident

Over the weekend, three men were killed in a single vehicle accident in New Kent County.  Lon Hogge Jr was driving his car with passengers Clarence Jackson III, and Paul Mula Saturday night when Hogge lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway and striking a culvert and some trees.  According to authorities, Hogge and Mula were not wearing seatbelts.  The accident occurred around 11 PM that night. ...

Joice, Iowa farmer dies

A 79-year old man was repairing a drainage tile Saturday afternoon when the trench he had dug collapsed, burying him under the dirt.  Emergency crews were called around 8:40 pm when the man’s wife could not reach him, and had her neighbor call 911.  When emergency crews arrived, they found the back hoe still running, and the 7 feet deep trench had collapsed.  The man’s name has not been released, pending...

Death of woman in traffic fatality ruled a homicide

Paul Lauritson  of Hudson, was driving Stephanie Dripps, of Dysart, on October 8 of this year.  They were involved in a collision resulting in both of their deaths.  The Benton County medical examiner’s office has now ruled that Ms. Dripps’ death was a homicide. Beet Truck driver charged with killed 18-yr old.

Police in Wahpeton, North Dakota say that 52-year old Cathleen Dean ran a red light in her beet truck and killed an 18-yr old girl.  Ms. Dean has a criminal history, and is now facing years in jail and a fine following this latest incident.  Antoinette Gjesdal was the third car to go through the light, according to witnesses, before Ms. Dean ran the red light and hit her car, killing her.  Ms. Dean says she...

Man trapped and killed by bulldozer

According to Ossian, Iowa authorities, Patrick O’Shaughnessy was working on a bulldozer when it apparently slipped off the jacks and pinned him.  Although his co-workers used a crane to lift the bulldozer, O’Shaughnessy was pronounced dead at the scene.  O’Shaughnessy had been working on a small bulldozer at Reilly construction in northeast Iowa.

Danger in Power Lines

Driver charged for killing pedestrian

Nicole Gallo, 19, was killed instantly when Rachael Jankins hit her with her car on August 14 just outside Delaware County Memorial Hospital.  Christine Bochanski, 20, was also hit, but is recovering after surgery for a broken back.  Jankins originally told police she was distracted with her iPod, but her blood tested positive for marijuana and difluoroethane, a chemical in compressed air used to clean computers. ...

Bug Fogger appears to be cause of death of infant
