Authorities say that last Tuesday morning, an embankment caved in on a then unidentified man at a work site in Dakota Dunes, just south of Sioux Falls. It has since been learned the man was 27 year old Gabe Koenigsfeld of Sioux Falls, who was a high school sports star, and a former South Dakota State football player. His wife, Stephanie is pregnant with their first child.

Robert Springsteen and Michael Scott were convicted of murder in the 1991 yogurt shop killings of four teenagers. In 2001, Springsteen was sent to death row after he was convicted of capital murder of one of the teenage girls, and Scott was also convicted in the girl’s death, but sentenced to life in prison. Seventh grade student Tyler Michael Perrow of Tunstall Middle School in Pittsylvania County was killed Saturday in a one car accident. Just outside Chicago, in southwest suburban Oak Lawn, Joan Orth was struck by a vehicle while crossing Kenton Avenue around 5:45 PM Monday evening. Over the weekend, three men were killed in a single vehicle accident in New Kent County. Lon Hogge Jr was driving his car with passengers Clarence Jackson III, and Paul Mula Saturday night when Hogge lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway and striking a culvert and some trees. A 79-year old man was repairing a drainage tile Saturday afternoon when the trench he had dug collapsed, burying him under the dirt. Emergency crews were called around 8:40 pm when the man’s wife could not reach him, and had her neighbor call 911.
