Band instructor killed in bus wreck, dozens others injured

Dozens of students were injured in a school bus crash that caused the death of Heather Christensen, 33, who was the woodwind instructor for the band.  Ms. Christensen had tried to grab the wheel and regain control of the bus when the driver of the bus lost control.  The bus veered off the side of the road and rolled over, causing the heroic instructor to be tossed out of the window.  Ms. Christensen was killed, and two students were seriously injured.  Dozens of students were injured and were in varied conditions.  The two most seriously injured were airlifted to a hospital in Pocatello, and twelve others were rushed by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.  Other students with lesser injuries were also taken by EMS crews to area hospitals for treatment.  Police officials are currently investigating the fatal crash. The fatal crash happened on Saturday, October 10, 2009 around 7:00 p.m., along Interstate 15, as reported by ABC4.
